Corrina Raymond- Teaching Assistant
I discovered HWG by doing what moms do, talking to other moms. I had heard about a program that embraced
childhood and allowed for children to learn through play, art, and experiences. I fell in love with the program and
knew that it would be an exciting place to begin my children's educational journey.
My husband, Mike, and I grew up in Norwood, MA. We moved to Enfield 7 years ago. We have three boys:
Michael, 9; Matthew 7; and Jack, 3. Michael and Matthew enjoyed their time at HWG and Jack is beginning
this year. Before moving to CT, I attended UMass Boston where I received a BA in English and a Master's
Degree in Education. I have experience with a variety of learning levels from preschool and elementary through
middle school. I love the learning process and watching it unfold in children. There is nothing more rewarding
than watching that moment when a child realizes they have "learned" something and a proud smile dances on
their face.
During the summer months, we travel between Boston and New Jersey visiting our families. I love the beach,
swimming in the pool with my kids, reading, sewing, refinishing furniture, and gardening. During the school year
our family is busy with sports & schoolwork. My husband, Mike, coaches Little League and I am very active in
Parkman's PTO Board as both an officer and an organizer.
Many people have influenced my life, but when I think of teaching and the type of teacher I would like to
emulate, I think of my second grade teacher, Ms Wojcik. She always had a smile, always took the time to
listen, and had such a calm demeanor that I was able to learn and gain the confidence needed to move on.
I am very excited to be a Teaching Assistant at HWG. I look forward to meeting new families and working with
the children as they begin their journey! With encouragement and patience, a child can do anything!
